Grievance Committee recomendations to these Grievance / Objection

SAPO Elections 2026 Grievance Committee Decision Regarding Grievance / Objection 1 and Grievance / Objection 2 Assalam-o-Alaikum, The Grievance Committee has reviewed both grievances received regarding the SAPO Elections 2026 and has considered the opinions and recommendations of all committee members. The following consolidated response is issued for public information and for the concerned candidates. Regarding Conflict of Interest and Association Membership The committee noted that it was clearly stated in the election announcement that candidates contesting the election should not hold membership or a position that creates a conflict of interest with another association. Committee members observed that: • A candidate should demonstrate commitment and dedication to SAPO. • Holding executive positions in multiple associations may create a conflict of interest. • "Member tu ho sakte hain magar position nahi rakh sakte. Conflict of interest position rakhne se ata hai. Do jagon par position nahi rakh sakte." • Previous examples were cited where individuals resigned from other associations before actively pursuing leadership roles elsewhere. • Strong leadership positions, particularly President and General Secretary, should be held by active individuals who can effectively represent and advocate for the profession. After discussion, the committee's majority view is that: 1. Candidates should not hold an executive position in another association at the time of finalization of nominations. 2. Any candidate holding such a position should publicly announce their resignation before publication of the final candidate list. 3. Failure to resolve such conflict of interest before finalization of the candidate list may result in rejection of the nomination. Regarding Rejection of Nominations One committee member recommended that nominations should not be rejected and that all interested members should be given an opportunity to participate, provided they comply with the eligibility requirements before finalization of the election process. The committee recognizes the importance of broad participation while also ensuring compliance with election rules and avoidance of conflicts of interest. Regarding Election Schedule and Transparency The committee reviewed the request to amend the election timeline and noted that: • The Election Organizing Committee has already issued the official election schedule. • No sufficient grounds were identified to justify changes to the announced dates. • Therefore, the current election schedule shall remain unchanged. The committee also acknowledges the importance of transparency in the election process and supports continued publication of election updates, candidate lists, and official decisions through the designated SAPO communication channels. Grievance / Objection 2 The committee found that Grievance / Objection 2 raises substantially the same concerns as Grievance / Objection 1. Accordingly, the same response, rationale, and position adopted for Grievance / Objection 1 shall apply to Grievance / Objection 2. Final Decision After review of both grievances, the committee concludes that: • The election schedule will remain unchanged. • Conflict of interest concerns are valid and must be addressed before publication of the final candidate list. • Candidates holding executive positions in other associations should publicly resign from those positions before finalization of nominations. • The response to Grievance 1 shall equally apply to Grievance 2. • The Election Committee may proceed with the election process in accordance with the announced schedule and applicable election rules.
